First Winner of the Cabriere Photo Competition

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

The first month of Cabriere photo competition is complete and we have a winner. Envelope please.

The winner of the February 2010 Haute Cabriere, Pierre Jourdan and Me Facebook fan page photo competition is … the suspense must be killing you …

Ok, enough with the fun and games, the winner is … Jonathan Wright.

Congratulations Jonathan! You’ve won a case (of six) of the Pierre Jourdan Brut. Please contact our marketing guru - Jeff Gradwell - at marketing@cabriere.co.za so we can deliver your prize.

In a very suprising twist we, at Cabriere, have decided to award a gift pack of Pierre Jourdan (that’s two bottles) to our favourite photo for the month of February 2010. The winner of this prize is Kim Gray. Well done Kim!

The competition for the next case of Pierre Jourdan has began so, if you missed out this month, upload a new photo (or series of photos) to the Pierre Jourdan and Haute Cabrière Facebook Fan Page and get your friends to start voting and commenting.

Who knows you could be our March 2010 winner.

The Interview: Side Thoughts about Achim

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Within the first few weeks of meeting Achim my understanding and belief of what wine is has, for lack of a better word, evolved. I suppose I used to believe it was about the land, the team, the caring for the vines, the winemaking process and (always) a bit of luck. Achim makes it seem like more. When you spend time speaking to him you start to realise that it’s about all of the technical stuff coupled with an emotional bent.

Every bottle of wine, in his eyes, is a culmination of someone’s experiences – both good and bad.

A bottle of Haute Cabrière or Pierre Jourdan has a touch of the German Adventure in it, a piece of a tiny Paris garden (a story for another day). Its poetry, its art, its discovery, its wonder and its all packed into the wine. Amazing.

So maybe what I really get, when I spend time with Achim or drink Cabrière’s wine, is the ability to partake in an adventure I wasn’t part of.
