The most recent winner of the Haute Cabrière, Pierre Jourdan and Me competition lives in Belgium and apparently he got the idea (of entering the competition) from our very own Zoë von Arnim.

Apparently Zoë - who together with her husband Koen does a phenomenal job of promoting the family brand overseas -  met the group at an Antwerp wine event on the eve of their departure to South Africa; and it was there that she suggested they enter the competition.

Isn’t that just phenomenal?

We’ve been having a bit of a problem with our new video camera. It’s a flip - which we’re very excited about. Because it’s cool and little, and did we mention that it’s cool?

The footage this little flip has captured is great. We’ve got Takuan everywhere and, even if he acts all nonchalant, we know he’s just loving it!

The quality of the footage is good but it’s proving to be a bit temperamental to edit. We’ve finally found a way to work around these issues so there should be video footage soon. Besides getting this to work cannot possibly be more challenging than making a great Pinot Noir - like the 2006 Haute Cabriere Pinot Noir (you can buy it at the Cabriere online store).

Shameless product punting aside we’ll have our new video footage - and some great new video tasting notes - up before the end of the week (tomorrow).

If you’ve ever visited the Cabriere Tasting Room, the Haute Cabriere Restaurant and our underground cellar you’ll know that getting in and out (because it makes use of the same road) can be quite tricky; especially when it’s busy. If you haven’t yet been to Cabriere then you’d better have an amazing excuse. Something involving ninjas!

To deal with the congestion we’ve built a ring road. So now you drive in, park, taste all our Pierre Jourdan Cap Classiques and Haute Cabriere wines, buy at least a case, have some lunch (or dinner), hop back into your car and drive around the cellar. Exciting stuff!

It’s a lot like being wine, only with no animals and lots of wine. So really it’s nothing like being on safari.

This year’s Uncorked - on the 10th and 11th of October - promises to be amazing.

This month we’re going to be unpacking our Franschhoek Uncorked offering. What we can share with you now is that it will definitely involve the best Franschhoek Cap Classique (Pierre Jourdan), Sabrage, our Haute Cabriere Chardonnay Pinot Noir Blend and our straight Pinot Noir.
